EMG Endotracheal Tube Electrodes
EMG Endotracheal Tube Electrodes are specialized intraoperative neuromonitoring devices used primarily during thyroid, parathyroid, and anterior cervical surgeries to identify and preserve the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) and vagus nerve. Integrated directly into or applied onto an endotracheal tube, these surface electrodes are positioned exactly at the level of the patient's vocal cords during intubation. When the surgeon electrically stimulates the nerve in the surgical field, the electrodes instantly detect the resulting electromyographic (EMG) muscle responses from the vocal cords. This real-time physiological feedback is essential for preventing postoperative vocal cord paralysis or hoarseness.
